Ohio State University's Marching Band literally put a game in a football game.
On Saturday, Oct. 6, during Ohio State's game against Nebraska, the band put on one of the most entrancing and visually stunning performances fans will ever see.
During its halftime show, the band managed to appease gamers, music enthusiasts, 80s and 90s nostalgia lovers and football fans ... all in under 10 minutes.
The team paid homage to iconic games such as Space Invaders, Pokémon, Mario, Pac-Man, Halo, Tetris and Zelda. And yes, it all with the accompanying sounds to go with it including the Pac-Man chasing sound, the sound made when Mario supersizes himself and the world-famous "game over" tune.
About 6 minutes into the video, the band forms an actual walking horse. All this done in perfect synchronization.
The video quickly hit viral status, garnering 1.5 million views in just one day on YouTube.
Reactions
"Seriously the coolest thing ever. I was in marching band and this is some of the hardest stuff I have ever seen before. I am in awe," commented Kelly Stanich.
"As a fellow musician you should be more than aware of the time and effort it takes to memorized a piece of music let alone get the dynamics and intonation right," said Lisa Carpenter. "Couple that with memorizing location on the field, moving and playing with precision, and doing that in one massive group where everyone has to be on time and I'd say that take talent. "
