Planning and production for "G.I. Joe 3" is still ongoing and official information is minimal, but rumors have it that the film may have already found its new villains in twin terrors Tomax and Xamot, Screen Rant reported.
Paramount Pictures is keeping mum on the progress of the third film in the "G.I. Joe" movie franchise. All that is known so far is that it's going to be helmed by "I Am Number Four" director D.J. Caruso. It's also said to be focusing on Roadblock, played by Dwayne Johnson, who fans already saw leading the Joes in the previous film "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" in 2013.
Aside from that, it's also known that Destro is still imprisoned, whle franchise villain Cobra Commander is still at large. The Commander may come back, but he's likely to be joined by two new villains whose names recently popped up: Corsican twins Tomax and Xamot
The twins are probably more familiar to those who read the comic books and those who watch the Sunbow cartoon series. However, for those interested to know more, the twins are former mercenaries turned merchant bankers, according to Film Divider.
They launched their company, Extensive Enterprises, and ended up as the more acceptable face of the terrorist organization Cobra, managing its business affairs and also leading an elite force called the Crimson Guard.
The twins also have an empathic bond, making them feel each other's pain, finish each other's sentences and speak through their minds. They are also identical in every way, save for the way they part their hairs and Xamot's scar.
Aside from the twins, another character may possibly be appearing, none other than Matt Trakker from M.A.S.K. or Mobile Armored Strike Kommand, according to Cinema Blend.
Rumors have it that Trakker may end up joining Roadblock's cause.
His appearance may then lead to the introduction of M.A.S.K, which sported vehicles that contained other autos or transformed into other types of cars, and also characters that wore power-enhancing, cybernetic masks which give them special abilities, according to Comic Book.
They also fought against V.E.N.O.M. or Vicious Evil Network of Mayhem and were featured prominently during the 1980 "M.A.S.K." cartoon series.
It is possible that the twins' and Trekker's appearances are just cameos, or it could even lead to a spinoff if Paramount Pictures has big plans for it. As the company keeps silent on the details for now, it's unknown if the rumors have any truth to them.
"G.I. Joe 3" has no release date yet, but it is said to come out sometime in 2016.
