In addition to holding a concert in Los Angeles this week, Maná will be breaking the record--currently held by Britney Spears--for most concerts held at the Staples Center by any band or artist.
Spears performed at the Staples Center a total of eight times while Maná will be performing their ninth concert this Thursday to a packed venue.
Other famous artists that have performed in the center with capacity to seat up to 17,000 people include Mariah Carey, U2, Jay-Z, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, as well as Latin artists Ricky Martin, Shakira and Luis Miguel.
The Mexican band has been playing together for more than three decades earning various accolades including four Grammy Awards, seven Latin Grammy Awards, five MTV Video Music Awards Latin America, and nine Billboard Latin Music Awards.
Their 1992 album "¿Dónde Jugarán Los Niños?" is currently the best selling Spanish-language rock album of all times with more than 3 million copies sold worldwide.
According to the Associated Press, Alex Gonzalez, the band's drummer, considers Los Angeles as the "Spanish rock capital of the world," and shared that Maná's Latino fans in the U.S. are hard-working people and the reason why they've been able to excel and break such records in the U.S.
The band will then perform concerts on the 20th and 25th of April raising the record to an even higher number.
