Jeremy Lin is pondering on the possibility of transferring teams.
Lakers Nation reported that on February 1, the Los Angeles Lakers lost against the New York Knicks with a final score of 80-92. It has been three years since "Linsanity" exploded and the Lakers point guard is now only a shadow of his former self, coming off the bench in a team that is bound to miss the NBA playoffs for another season.
Lin said in an exclusive Sheridan Hoops article, "Every time I come back I always have great memories. I always remember those times and I'm always thankful. Coming back and playing in New York with the fans at the Garden, that's very special to me and I'll always cherish that. It means a lot more to me than it might be to anyone else coming back or anybody else who might just come through."
Lin will become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2015 and said that he will keep his options open.
He said in the same Sheridan Hoops report, "I'll just cross that bridge when the time comes. I'm keeping my options open and see what's out there. I'm just going to evaluate everything when the time comes because right now you could say stuff, but it doesn't really matter until I'm presented (with something) at the time because I don't know what the landscape is going to look like."
The Lakers have half of the season remaining before unrestricted free agency kicks in and they have been struggling more than ever after superstar Kobe Bryant injured his shoulder and will most likely be out indefinitely. The Lakers do not have Lin in their long term plans and are determined to invest in rookie Jordan Clarkson in the point guard position.
Lin said, "Contract year, that's not what bothers me. I play the game to play the game. I put in just as much my first year of my contract as I do the last year of my contract. I care just as much in the first as the last and that's the disappointing part."
Lakers Nation also wrote that it will be difficult for Lin to land a contract as big as what the Houston Rockets previously offered him to transfer from New York. The Cleveland Cavaliers are also said to be interested in support players like Lin, Jose Calderon, Norris Cole, Tyler Ennis, Mo Williams and Lance Stephenson, among others, to improve their ball rotation, based on an article by Sports World Report.
