A recent article by Yahoo Sports reveals that although stories circulated that the mega-bout between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao is closer than ever, Mayweather has doused cold water on the talk of the anticipated fight.

Fox Sports wrote that the reports about the big fight are conflicting. TMZ Sports initially reported that the Mayweather and Pacquiao camps finally agreed on the terms of the bout after Floyd and Manny talked privately in a Miami hotel. Sports Illustrated and ESPN, however, reported that the two sides have not finalized a deal yet and that an official announcement is set to be made early in February 2015.

Based on a report by RingTV, representatives from both camps are still working on finalizing the terms of the fight.

Michael Koncz, Pacquiao's adviser, said, "No. We're still working on it. So there is nothing new to report." Koncz added that he already talked to Bob Arum, CEO of Top Rank, Les Moonves, CBS Corporation Chief Executive, and Richard Plepler, CEO and chairman of HBO, and said that they already arrived at an agreement about broadcasting and promotional documentaries.

Koncz said in the same RingTV report, "It is my understanding that the networks will each do a special on their own fighter."

Mayweather himself posted on his Instagram account, "While they continue to lie about making the fight... I'm just going to continue to travel and explore the world on my private jet. #FightNotMadeYet #Jamaica."

HBO, who has a contract with Pacquiao and Showtime, who has a contract with Mayweather, are still ironing out the details of a joint pay-per-view for the fight in the same way the two networks worked together to present the Mike Tyson versus Lennox Lewis bout in June 2002.

Chris DeBlasio, senior director of communications of Showtime, said in the same RingTV report, "You're going to see out there that TMZ is breaking news that Floyd Mayweather has agreed to the fight, but that's not really breaking news. Floyd has agreed to wanting this fight for a long time, but there is no deal in place, so there is nothing new about it."

Stephen Espinoza, sports executive vice president and general manager of Showtime, said that they are making progress, but he cautioned that there is no done deal yet so they cannot celebrate until a deal has been set and signed.

ESPN wrote that Arum said on January 30 that they are expecting to complete the paperwork and that they expect everything to be done in the next two days. Arum added that there is still the question of whether Floyd really wanted to fight Manny or not.
