"Fifty Shades of Grey" stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson revealed some details about their sex scenes in the movie. The two, who were in the March cover of Glamour magazine, dished out new details to writer Genevieve Field.
Jamie, who plays the role of handsome businessman Christian Grey, and Dakota, who plays the role of college student Anastasia Steele, said in the interview that both of them really worked hard and prepared for their roles.
"I had to do a lot of work to get in shape because Christian's someone who's very anal about that. But it wasn't six hours a day. You don't want to turn to your heavily pregnant wife and say, 'I'm going to the gym for six hours. Text me if you go into labor'," Jamie said.
Remember that the actor even visited a sex dungeon and watched a dominant-submissive session for the film.
Meanwhile, Dakota said that she also hit the gym to maintain that "active" college student's body. She also had a lot of waxing. She did not, however, went to a sex dungeon but she read a lot about BDSM.
"I didn't go to the sex dungeon. I wanted to keep myself distanced from it at first because I wanted Ana's reaction to certain things to be completely honest and real, like new. But I did do a lot of reading about the culture of BDSM. It's about the ebb and flow of control between two people. To me, there's something really honest in wanting to completely give up control for just a second," she was quoted as saying.
Dakota said she did not see the infamous Red Room for more than two months. And when it was already time to film the scenes there, she said it was "a whole other world."
Jamie described some of the materials that were in the Red Room as "uncomfortable."
The actor also revealed that it was the first time he did something like that to a woman. "There were times when Dakota was not wearing much, and I had to do stuff to her that I'd never choose to do to a woman...I felt very protective and aware that it probably wasn't easy for her to be put in those situations, and exposed."
Dakota admitted that some of the sex scenes were "stressful" and that there were indeed "some painful moments."
"It's stressful enough to be tied to a bed naked in a scene. But then they call cut, and you're still tied to the bed, naked. Jamie would be the first one to throw a blanket over me...There were some painful moments. I got whiplash once from him throwing me on the bed; so f--king painful," Dakota said.
The movie tells the story of the couple, who met when Steele interviewed Grey for a school paper article. The two eventually had sex and engaged in a non-disclosure, dominance and submission agreement.
The book, from which the movie is based, is considered as "one of the biggest and fastest-selling book series ever." The trilogy was even translated into more than 50 languages worldwide.
Aside from Dornan and Johnson, the cast also includes Luke Grimes, Victor Rasuk, Eloise Mumford, Marcia Gay Harden, Rita Ora, Max Martini, Callum Keith Rennie, Jennifer Ehle, and Dylan Neal. "Fifty Shades of Grey" will hit theaters on Valentine's Day this year.
