Yesterday, news broke about Michael Vick spending $30 million in just four years.
TMZ said legal documents proved that Vick paid more than $10 million in taxes, $9 million to creditors and more than $2 million to lawyers.
TMZ said after paying off his debts, Vick is left with a network of about $1.5 million.
He tweeted earlier this week, telling followers to be smart with their money.
Commenters took to message boards and Twitter yesterday to put in their two cents on the matter.
"Gets friend to watch his dogs while he's away," tweeted @Brian_Bad_Luck
"Vick, you make me SICK!!!!" said TMZ reader Leeloo.
"If Vick were a white boy from the south, he'd be a heart-warming redemption story that some redneck country singer with a shady beard and big hat would sing about and make folks cry," said HuffPo commenter WrongApeture.
"He did, in fact, "blow" his money. If he had debts, it just means that he spent that money up-front before he actually had it. Taxes are a budgetable fact of life. You pay as you go unless you spend your tax obligation on something else. Lawyers fees? That was a result of bad, bad judgement and the piper will demand to be paid. Unless he has a hole in the pocket of every pair of pants, he did blow a bunch of money," commented MrUnlimted.
One commenter, opprobrious, was a bit sarcastic: "So that leaves $10 million? Poor baby."
Arderodney and GAME9 were much more sympathetic.
"It's hard to stay frugal with your earned cash. Especially when you got leeches around..
The right thing to do (and he did it -is to pay of bills and debts)
Also a Caterpillar can't relate to what an Eagle invision is true.. A millionaire experienced having that much money, the majority of whom ever posts a comment haven't, we can't judge..TMZ always spreading gossip like a blabbermouth/Wendy Williams-SMH," arderodney said.
"Looks to me like Vick is handling his fortunes in a responsible way by paying his debts. Lot of headlines say he has blown $30M. Not so...," GAME9 added.
Commenter Elyse credited God with helping Vick turn his life around.
"He could of gave up and live a secluded life but God gave him another chance and people still believe in his talents. I'm just saying out of all the highest degree of crimes, he was caught running a dog fighting ring. I'm happy he left all that ghetto hood activities behind him. He's not perfect. He's a working progress like everyone else."
Vick previously filed for bankruptcy in 2008. Vick did sign a 6-year, $100 million contract in 2011, so reports say he will rebound financially.
