Most of the information on "Transformers 5" are really speculations at this point in time and nothing has been substantiated, however, new reports have come in regarding the film's director, plot and the possibility of getting more robots, Inquisitr reported.
The "Transformers" film series began in 2007's "Transformers" followed by 2009's "Revenge of the Fallen," 2011's "Dark of the Moon" and last year's "Age of Extinction." With more than $3 billion to its name, it has become one of the highest grossing film franchises of all time. The fifth film hopefully has just as much to offer, if not more, and it might be coming in the form of more robots.
Reports have it that there is a bigger battle ahead for the Autobots, but they are not alone and come with a bigger army thanks to the help of the Mechanoids, such as Red Alert and Override. They are a few of the robots joining in the fight against the evil Decepticons, and are led by their esteemed leader Ultra Magnus, according to Venture Capital Post.
The Decepticons have something up their sleeves though, and it's in the Quintessons, who Optimus Prime mentioned in the previous film. They Quintessons are the ancient creators of their race and with the Decepticons' help, they are coming back to wreak havoc, namely the likes of Cyclonus, Scourge and Blitzwig.
With so many new robots, fans can definitely expect more action and more intrigue to follow and it will all fall on the shoulders of Michael Bay, though not as the director's, but rather as producer. The greater weight will probably fall on "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" director Jonathan Liebesman. It has been rumored that he will be taking over and now that Bay has stepped down, he might actually get to.
Aside from that, news have popped up regarding the film's cast, though reports have been mixed, according to Cross Map.
Some are claiming that Mark Wahlberg will be returning as Cade Yeagar, and joining him are "Transformers" alum Shia LaBeouf as Sam Witwicky and Megan Fox as Mikaela Banes. New faces that will be joining are Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Bruce Willis.
None of the actors or Paramount Pictures have stepped up to confirm the news.
The same goes for the release date, as rumors claimed that the project has been pushed back to 2017, while some claimed that it will come out sometime next year. In fact, some are pointing out a specific date of June 24, 2016, according to Enstarz.
Again, Paramount Pictures has yet to confirm the date, or any news for that matter. Hopefully fans will get a confirmation on what's what with the film as production is allegedly set to begin sometime this year.
