It looks like we won't be seeing Ronan the Accuser in the second "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie. The information comes straight from director James Gunn who recently held a Q&A session with movie fans on Facebook.

When he was asked by a fan if Ronan the Accuser, played by Lee Pace, would come back in the second movie, Gunn responded, "Who knows. But not in 2, no."

Pace was earlier interviewed by IGN and the actor admitted that he would love to come back in the movie. "I love the character...I'd love to play him again! Who knows!?," he was quoted as saying.

"I loved that film...I was so proud to be a part of that whole fun moment. I found the character very, very interesting, exceptionally, and in playing him -- this kind of charismatic space terrorist. The idea is fascinating.

"I had to kind of crack the way the character thought. For me, I think he's doing what's right for his people. He's going to right a wrong. He's annihilating the weak in favor of the strong. That's a different set of values, and he's fighting for them," the actor was further quoted as saying.

However, there is still a possibility that Pace would come back in other future "Guardians of the Galaxy" movies as Gunn told another fan in the Facebook Q&A session that Ronan the Accuser could return "perhaps someday."

Note that Ronan was burned by the Power Orb in the first movie. Cinema Blend says that the only way we could see him in the second movie is through flashbacks. But we don't know yet what would happen to him. Will he rise from the dead? Or was he really killed by the Power Orb to begin with?

Marvel announced in October last year that the "Guardians of the Galaxy" sequel would hit theaters in May 5, 2017.

In an interview with Variety last year, Gunn revealed that the five main characters -- Peter Quill or Star Lord, played by Chris Pratt; Gamora, played by Zoe Saldana; Groot, played by Vin Diesel; Drax the Destroyer, played by Dave Bautista; and Rocket, played by Bradley Cooper -- will be coming back in the movie, alongside other unspecified returning characters. He also revealed that he had already started writing the script for it.

"I spent all day on Aug. 1, the day the first movie was released, writing 'Guardians 2'...I was so excited about it and I was finally able to let go of the last one and begin the second one. I always saw this as a universe, not just as one story," he was quoted as saying.

In a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly, the director named some few minor characters he would like to explore more in future films. This includes Yondu and Kraglin, the Ravagers, Nebula, and The Collector.
