Tiger Woods was spotted wearing a skeleton mask to conceal his identity as he attended the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup Women's Super G in Cortina d' Ampezzo, Italy.
Bleacher Report wrote that the golf champ decided to surprise girlfriend Lindsey Vonn by flying to the said event where Vonn broke a 35-year-old skiing record after garnering her 63rd World Cup win. The entire time, Woods pretended that he was an average spectator, wearing a skeleton mask, sunglasses and a black bonnet.
ESPN reported that Woods entered in the athlete's area to surprise Vonn, giving her a hug. Afterwards, Woods was taken to a white tent reserved for measuring skis. After the podium celebration, Woods was accompanied by police to a snowmobile where he left the scene.
Vonn said in a report by Fox Sports, "It was an amazing surprise. I'm so happy that he's here. ... Everyone important to me is here - my mom and dad and my sister and Tiger - it's pretty incredible. I didn't think it was going to get better than yesterday, and today topped it."
She commented about Tiger's fashion sense that day, "I knew it was him immediately. He loves that stupid mask." Vonn added that she told Tiger, "I can't believe you came." To which the 14-time champion responded, "I told you."
Fox Sports, in another report revealed that another reason why Woods generated a lot of buzz was because of a missing tooth which was seen when he took off the mask. Report says it was caused by a videographer who accidently whacked him at the event.
Mark Steinberg of Excel Sports wrote an email stating, "During a crush of photographers at the awards podium at the World Cup event in Italy, a media member with a shoulder-mounted video camera pushed and surged toward the stage, turned and hit Tiger Woods in the mouth." He added, "Woods' tooth was knocked out by the incident."
However, The Associated Press reported that race organizers did not agree with Woods' agent's email. According to the organizers, Woods had extra security and a snowmobile to exit the place, which he personally requested.
Nicola Colli, the race organizing committee secretary general, told The Associated Press, "I was among those who escorted him from the tent to the snowmobile and there was no such incident. When he arrived he asked for more security and we rounded up police to look after both him and Lindsey."
Steinberg did not indicate when Woods will have his tooth replaced or comment about Colli's statement.
