Anticipation is high for Marvel's "Ant-Man" and star Judy Greer has a few things to say about what fans can expect with the film when it comes out this year, such as a few laughs and Ant-Man's origin story, Screen Rant reported.
Greer is most likely a familiar name and face to many, especially after appearing in the likes of "Arrested Development," "Archer" and the highly successful "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes." However, moviegoers will be seeing a lot more of the actress as she's set to appear in big-budget flicks such as Universal Pictures' "Jurassic World," Disney's "Tomorrowland" and also "Ant-Man."
She talked about her role in the Marvel film during an interview with IGN at the Television Critics Association press tour. She is set to play Maggie, mother of Cassie and ex-wife to Scott Lang, a.k.a. Ant-Man, the criminal turned superhero played by Paul Rudd.
"I love me some Ant-Man. Paul Rudd is so awesome and he's great in this role," she said. "The Ant-Man origin story that we tell in our movie is really beautiful and I think there's something really real about a man trying to better himself for his family."
Fans need not fear though, as Greer said there was a lot of comedy present in the film, saying, "I haven't seen it yet, but there was a lot of comedy on set and we did a lot of comedic improv."
"I had the best, best, best time on 'Ant-Man,'" she said. "I think I laughed during all of my scenes. I'm sure the editor was not going to be happy when he got into the room with my stuff."
This is probably good news for fans who were worried and surprised over the serious tone showed in the first teaser for "Ant-Man." The teaser hinted at how Scott Lang became a superhero and also showed action and a fair bit of drama.
Some were so worried that YouTube Patrick Willems even posted his own "fixed/re-edited" version of the trailer to give it a more playful turn.
Hopefully the film delivers when it comes out though, both with the funnier elements and the dramatic scenes, as well as Scott Lang's redemption arc and journey to becoming a superhero.
"Ant-Man" hits theaters on July 17, 2015. It is directed by Peyton Reed and written by Joe Cornish, Edgar Wright and Adam McKay.
The film stars Rudd as Scott Lang, Greer as Maggie Lang, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne, Corey Stoll as Darren Cross and more.
