News came out that two teachers from South Hills High School in Southern California were arrested by the police for suspicions of engaging in sexual relations with their students, MSN reported.

Officials arrested Melody Lippert, 38, and Michelle Ghirelli , 30, for holding beach parties and supplying students with alcohol before allegedly having sex with them.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Department, an incident occurred in November wherein Lippert met with a group of male students at the San Clemente State Beach, gave them alcohol and engaged in sexual acts with one of them.

She repeated the act several weeks later, in the guise of an overnight beach camping trip to the same beach with several students, as well as Ghirelli, who used to teach at the same school. It was found out that trip was not sponsored by the school and the two teachers were suspected of having sex with some of their students.

The pair was arrested on Saturday and police stated that Ghirelli allegedly had sex with a student who was under 18 years of age, and may be facing charges of unlawful sex and oral copulation with a minor.

Lipper, on the other hand, was said to have been with a student who was 18 years old, and was arrested on suspicion of contributing and conspiracy to the delinquency of a minor, according to The Los Angeles Times.

Michelle Van Der Linden, the spokeswoman for Covina-Valley Unified, stated, "As soon as became aware of these allegations, we immediately contacted the West Covina Police Department and have been working closely with the detectives."

The sheriff's spokesman, Lieutenant Jeff Hallock, stated: "Based on the charges the teachers were booked to, you can make that assumption as to which teacher was with students that were of age and were of not. But of course, regardless of somebody's age or not it's very serious."

"A teacher is a position of authority. They're trusted. Present send their kids to school every day and expect that they're safe," he added, "To compromise that safety, to compromise that trust that we have in our teachers is taken very seriously."

Lippert's bail has been set at $20,000, while Ghirelli's was set at $50,000. Neighbors shared that both women are married and had families of their own, according to CBS News.

Lippert and Ghirelli are set to be arraigned on Wednesday and have been placed on administrative leave while investigation is ongoing.

The news came less than two weeks after another report came to West Covina officers about a part-time wrestling coach on South Hills High allegedly inappropriately contacting a 17-year-old student, according to MSN.
