Will the upcoming "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" movie be filled with more action with these new cast members added to the roster?
According to the recent report of Cinema Blend, there have been rumors that the movie's cast list has been updated, adding "Raid" film stars Iko Uwais, Yayan Ruhian, and Cecep Arif Rahman to the list. Does this mean we're going to see some badass martial arts stunts while we're exploring the galaxy?
Twitch Film said that the three have not yet issued a comment on the rumors and if they are indeeed true, it is still unknown as to what roles they are going to portray.
"We have no word yet on what their characters may be, which side of the good guy or bad guy line they fall upon or whether any will survive through until the subsequent pictures but think on this: After the underwhelming prequel trilogy with its massive over-reliance on CGI trickery not only has Abrams shown a strong preference for practical effects but has now also cast a trio of highly skilled martial artists who have already demonstrated their skills with blades, batons, etc in a world where super powered warriors fight with blades, batons," Twitch Film's Todd Brown notes.
The Wrap meanwhile revealed that one of these three might probably die in the movie. It however did not identify who will it be and how will it happen. The report also divulged that another one from the stunt team of "Raid" has joined the "Star Wars" shoot. It also did not identify the said martial artist.
To date, the movie's cast list includes Mark Hamill as the protagonist Luke Skywalker, Harrison Ford as Han Solo, and Carrie Fisher as Solo's wife, Princess Leia Organa of Alderaan. Also included in the cast are Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow.
Last June, it was revealed that the movie will also star "Game of Thrones" actress Gwendoline Christie and Lupita Nyong'o, who is known for winning the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the movie "12 Years A Slave." A month later, Lucasfilm and Disney announced that two other people will join the cast list. They are American actress Crystal Clarke and British actor Pip Andersen. The two were selected from thousands of applicants during the open casting calls for the film.
"Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" is directed by J.J. Abrams. He is also included in the screenplay credits together with Lawrence Kasdan. Abrams is also one of the producers together with Kathleen Kennedy and Bryan Burk. Returning as composer is John Williams. The movie will hit theaters on December this year.
