Latin Grammys 2012: Nominations for the 21st Awards Show Announced (LIST)

Nominations for the 21st annual Latin Grammy Awards were announced this morning in Los Angeles.

Leading the pack of nominees is Juan Luis Guerra with six nods, including one for Record of the Year (for "En El Cielo No Hay Hospital") and two as songwriter for Song of the Year (for "En El Cielo No Hay Hospital" and "Azul Sabina" from Juanes' MTV Unplugged album).

Mexican pop duo Jesse & Joy follow Guerra with five nods, and coming in with four nominations each are star Ricardo Arjona, Edgar Barrera, Juanes, Carla Morrison, Arturo Sandoval, Ivete Sangalo and Caetano Veloso.

The first Latin Grammy ceremony was held in 2000, which became the first primarily Spanish language primetime program carried on an English-language American television network. Nominees come from countries such as Puerto Rico, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Canada and Chile.

The Latin Grammys will air live on Univision from the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
