Capcom featured a new live demo of the upcoming "Street Fighter V" game, which will be released exclusively for PC and PlayStation 4 only.
IGN.com reported that Charlie Nash, a new character, was introduced at the 2014 Capcom Cup tournament on December 13. Yoshinoro Ono, producer of Capcom, went onstage after the event dressed as Nash to talk about "Street Fighter V" and introduce the Capcom Pro Tour and Capcom Tour Cup slated in 2015. The two events will feature a prize purse of $500,000.
Charlie Nash first appeared in "Street Fight Alpha". Now, Nash will be available on "Street Fighter V" and gamers expect a number of upgrades from the previous version of the character.
Ono said, "We've been hard at work at Street Fighter 5, and we promise this product will be the one that brings fighting games into the next era. This will be a huge step for us and our community."
The Capcom producer also pointed out that one of the key features of "Street Fighter V" is allowing cross-platform play so both PC and PS4 users can battle one another.
In the live demo presented on IGN.com, Ryu is shown fighting Chun Li. The fight begins with a short preview of both fighters. The battle time counts down from 99 seconds. There are life bars at the top and below these are Revenge bars. Ryu and Li continue to exchange blows and perform a few signature moves. Finally, the camera zooms in on Ryu as he performs his signature "Haduken" move to finish of Li. He knocks Chun Li right off the wall.
In Round 2 of the demo, Li was the dominant fighter, doing a flurry of her signature kicks until she successfully KO's Ryu to win the round. In the Final Round, Ryu ultimately wins the fight. Noticeably, the finishing blow was featured in slow motion, giving it more drama and emphasis. Gamers also noticed an EX bar at the bottom of the screen, which is very likely related to executing power moves and special combos.
After the game, a rematch was done by the players. Round 1 was immediately won by Chun Li who did not acquire any damage. In the second round, both showcased the lightning and water elements in the action, which most likely adds to the damage they can cause. Ryu finally hits Li with the zoom-in signature move. A bowl of noodles fell on her head as she gets knocked out. Li proceeds to fight and win the next round with the bowl of ramen still on her head.
