The filming of the new "Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales" might be delayed due to Jack the Monkey, recent reports are saying.
According to JBG News, there is a possibility that the filming of the new "Pirates of the Caribbean" might get delays as Australia, where the movie will be shot, requires animals that enter the said country to undergo quarantine. JBG News cited the biosecurity laws of Australia which said that all animals that enter the country should undergo quarantine lasting for at least a month. Thus, this might cause some filming delays for the production.
The report also quoted a Department of Agriculture of Australia spokesperson saying that these animals will undergo "intensive examination and biosecurity check."
"Once this particular species of animal arrives in Australia, they are subject to a 30-day quarantine period before release under quarantine surveillance into premises approved by the appropriate State or Territory Government for the holding of the imported species," the unnamed spokesperson added.
Jack the monkey, who has been seen accompanying Captain Hector Barbossa in almost all previous "Pirates of the Caribbean," is being played by at least two trained monkeys. The filming might still push through, JBG News said, as the filmmakers have talked to the Premier of Queensland, Campbell Newman, and asked him to at least relax the biosecurity rules for them to continue with their schedule.
A report from the British news site Daily Mail said the filming of the fifth movie, allegedly titled "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales," will start in February.
According to Air Herald, the fifth "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie will be the "most expensive movie ever filmed in Australia." It added that the filming was set in said country as it has the largest water tank in the world. The report also alleged that the movie might be the final "Pirates of the Caribbean" film.
To date, only Johnny Depp, who plays the role of Captain Jack Sparrow, and Geoffrey Rush, who plays the role of Captain Hector Barbossa, have been confirmed as part of the film.
It is still unknown whether Orlando Bloom, who plays the role of blacksmith turned pirate Will Turner, will be back in the movie. But according to another Daily Mail report, Bloom revealed at the Oz Comic Con last September that there were talks about his comeback. He even commented that he is okay with going back to the film.
A Deadline report said that Javier Bardem is also rumored to join the fifth film. It however did not provide any more details about it. Other actors who are rumored to join the film include Taron Egerton, George Mackay, Brenton Thwaites, Mitchell Hope, Ansel Elgort, and Sam Keeley, a separate Deadline report said. This has not yet been confirmed.
According to Coming Soon, the movie is set to be released on July 7, 2017 under Walt Disney Pictures. It will be directed by Norwegian directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg. The site also lists Jeff Nathanson as its screenwriter.
