The National Council of La Raza (NCLR) will host its yearly ALMA awards tonight.
The show will be hosted by Eva Longoria and George Lopez, but includes a plethora of famous presenters including Jessica Alba, Maria Celeste Arraras, Jake T. Austin, Benjamin Bratt, Maria Canals, Barrera, Madison De La Garza, Eva La Rue, Mario Lopez., Oscar Nunez, Michael Pena, Rico Rodriguez, Danny Trejo, Michael Trevino, Lauren Velez, Tristan Wilds.
According to TalkTVWorld.com, Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Lochte, Robert Rodriquez, Zoe Saldana, Natalie Morales, Andy Garcia, and Rafael Amaya will also be presenting.
The show will dedicate a salute to six Latino Olympic medal winners from this summer's Olympics. The medalists are Ryan Lochte (swimming), Brena Villa and Jessica Steffens (water polo), Danell Leyva (men's gymnastics), Leonel Manzano (track and field), and Marlen Esparza (boxing).
The nominees for Favorite Movie include Act of Valor, For Greater Glory, Girl in Progress, Puss in Boots, and The Way. The favorite movie actor nominees are Diego Boneta, Benicio Del Toro, Andy Garcia, Rodrigo Santoro, and Martin Sheen. For Favorite Drama Actress the nominees are Salma Hayek, Eva Longoria, Eva Mendes, Roselyn Sanchez, and Zoe Saldana. In the category of favorite comedy/musical actress Berenice Bejo, Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, and Aubrey Plaza are the nominees. The awards show also promises performances from rapper Flo Rida who will perform with Roselyn Sanchez. The show will also feature theme music written and performed by Latin sensation Pitbull.
The show will also feature a tribute to Christina Aguilera.
The ALMA awards are a National Hispanic Heritage Month event that celebrates American Latinos working in the entertainment industry, television programs, films, and music. According to the official website, the NCLR ALMA Awards were created in 1995 after research by the NCLR and the Center for Media and the Public found that there was a lack of representation for Hispanic Americans in mass media.
The wards show will be televised on NBC at 8 PM ET.
