"Pirates of the Caribbean" actor Johnny Depp does not need a tour guide to explore Australia as he is quite familiar with the place, his co-actor Geoffrey Rush revealed as the filming of the new sequel nears.
According to the report of the British news site Daily Mail, the filming of the fifth movie to be titled "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" will start in February as it is scheduled to hit theaters in 2017.
In an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, 63-year-old actor Geoffrey Rush said that Johnny Depp might be familiar with Australia where the movie is set to be filmed.
"I actually I've got a funny feeling he knows Australia quite well, I think in his day he's done a few hideaway trips," he was quoted as saying.
Rush also said that he is honored to have his role as Captain Barbossa renewed in the upcoming movie.
"It's such a family because we shot the first film in 2002...In that time we've had a pretty regular series of heads of departments... kids have been born, marriages have happened, people have passed on, but you really plug back into something," he told the Daily Mail during a G'Day USA event presented by Qantas.
Up to now, only Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush have been confirmed as part of the film. "Jack Sparrow and Barbossa are at the heart of it and there's a whole new set of story lines," Rush also told the Daily Mail.
It is still unknown whether Orlando Bloom, who plays the role of blacksmith turned pirate Will Turner will be back in the movie. But according to another Daily Mail report, Bloom revealed at the Oz Comic Con last September that there were talks about his comeback. He even commented that he is okay with going back to the film.
"There have certainly been some discussions about it and I'm open to it...That whole experience working with Johnny (Depp) and (director) Gore (Verbinski) was really amazing for me," Orlando was quoted by the Daily Mail as saying. He also revealed he is a fan of Johnny Depp and that he had a "great time" working with him.
Going back to Rush, the Melbourne based actor told the Daily Mail that he is excited to go back to where he started. He also reminisced those days when he was starting his career as a member of the Queensland Theatre Company.
According to Coming Soon, the movie is set to be released on July 7, 2017 under Walt Disney Pictures. It will be directed by Norwegian directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg. The site also lists Jeff Nathanson as its screenwriter.
A Deadline report said that Oscar winner Javier Bardem is also rumored to join the fifth film. It however did not provide any more details about it. Other actors who are rumored to join the film include Taron Egerton, George Mackay, Brenton Thwaites, Mitchell Hope, Ansel Elgort, and Sam Keeley, a separate Deadline report said. This has not yet been confirmed.
The first four "Pirates of the Caribbean" films are "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl," "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," and "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides."
