It has been revealed by one of the executives of the American television series "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." that their show will tie into the upcoming "The Avengers: Age Of Ultron" movie.
In an exclusive interview with the Entertainment Weekly, "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." co-creator and executive producer Jed Whedon hinted that the series might have some sort of connection with the new "Avengers" movie.
"You should expect something...The Avengers is the big tent that all the franchises play under. Obviously, we're included in that," he was quoted as saying.
To note, the series has already had crossovers with other Marvel movies before. Entertainment Weekly said this includes the big twist in the "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" where it got the thread that Hydra had infiltrated its organization. Another crossover was noted with the 2013 film "Thor: The Dark World." It was also noted that the show recently introduced a big blue alien called Kree. This is a crossover with the recently released "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie.
To date, it is still unclear and unknown how it will tie in with the new "Avengers" movie. However, Maurissa Tancharoen, co-creator and executive producer of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," was quoted in the report saying, "I don't think any movie has the potential to impact us in the way that Captain America 2 did...but there will be connections."
Mirror also noted that the former director of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." also portrayed the role Nick Fury. Also, Agent Maria Hill has been shown several times in the first movie. It was played by "How I Met Your Mother" star Cobie Smulders.
"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." stars include Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Brett Dalton as Agent Grant Ward, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons, and Chloe Bennet as Skye. Also listed on its website as executive producers are Joss Whedon, Jeffrey Bell, and Jeph Loeb.
Meanwhile, "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" is again directed by American director and screenwriter Joss Whedon. The new movie is a sequel to the first "Avengers" film which Variety said is considered as the "third highest-grossing film of all-time" after earning $1.5 billion in 2012.
"The Avengers: Age of Ultron" is based on the Marvel comic book series "The Avengers," which was first published in 1963. It will hit theaters in May.
According to Marvel, the sequel will again feature original cast members -- Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.
