There are rumors saying that "America's Got Talent" host Nick Cannon and "We Belong Together" singer Mariah Carey are fighting over the custody of their children after the couple split.
According to In Touch Weekly, 44-year-old singer Mariah and 34-year-old host Nick have not yet filed any official documents regarding the custody of their children. To date, their two three-year-old children, Monroe and Moroccan, are still enjoying the company of both their parents.
A source told In Touch Weekly that Mariah tries to be strong by keeping mum about the split. "She's trying to keep it together...She's focused on caring for her children and her upcoming five sold-out Christmas engagements in New York," the unnamed source was quoted as saying.
Earlier this week, Mariah received flak after she came in late for a Rockefeller Center Christmas tree performance. People also assailed her "off-key singing", to which the singer responded via a Twitter post, "Last night's situation was beyond my control. I apologize to all that showed up, you know that I would never want to disappoint you."
Another report from People said the singer was late not because of the rain but because she was on the phone allegedly talking to a lawyer. "She was on the phone for probably close to five hours straight with lawyers," the entertainment magazine's unidentified source was quoted as saying.
"She would never want to upset her fans," the source said, adding that the singer really had to make the call as she and Nick are already "arguing over property and custody of the twins."
People's source added that the couple still communicates for the kids. It also noted that Nick even visited Mariah and the kids during Thanksgiving.
Daily Mail said that the divorce might be pretty difficult due to the property the couple owns. Mariah has a $500 million fortune. They also own lavish homes in New York, Los Angeles, Aspen, and Windermere Island (in the Bahamas). They also own a $5 million private jet and a number of cars including a $400,000 Lamborghini and Rolls-Royce Phantom.
Another In Touch Weekly report said that Nick and Mariah will spend Christmas together with their children "somewhere cold and snowy, like Aspen." Nick was quoted in the report saying, "Gotta keep that going. I want to make sure we have a wonderful holiday together."
He also revealed to In Touch Weekly that he and Mariah still "talk and text everyday" but he still prioritizes his kids. "My children are my No. 1 priority. Everything I do is for them. I just want to be the best father I can possibly be," Nick told In Touch.
