New developments in boxing news showed that Floyd Mayweather, who has long been rumored to be dodging a fight against Manny Pacquiao, wants to fight the Filipino as well.
In a report by GMA Network, Sam Watson, Mayweather's adviser Al Haymon's alleged right-hand man, told FightHype.com, "Floyd wants to fight him real bad. Floyd, that's all he talks about is fighting Manny Pacquiao. Floyd says, 'I want that fight, Sam. I want him.' Now he's speaking out on it, and I hope that he gets it."
Watson said in an article by Ring TV, "He beat [Algieri] up real bad. He whipped on that boy. He's back to being Manny Pacquiao. That makes the fight great for Floyd. Floyd wants him to be at his best. Everybody thought the he had slowed down. He didn't slow down. Floyd's got the best defense. Floyd's the smartest fighter out there. Floyd's my best friend in the world. So I can't wait until that fight happens."
Watson continued, "Once the deal is set and done, you'll see the biggest fight you ever saw in your life. This would be the biggest fight ever. Ever." He added, "I believe there's going to be two fights."
According to Watson, the Mayweather-Pacquiao clash will even be more grand than the Evander Holyfield versus Mike Tyson match or the Mike Tyson versus Lennox Lewis bout, which also involved the collaborative effort between two competing networks. Watson also shared in the same Ring TV report that the fight will even break Mayweather's pay-per-view record when he fought Canelo Alvarez in 2013.
Watson predicted that there will be two fights, considering the news that Mayweather allegedly asked for a re-match clause in case he loses to Pacquiao. The big fight is estimated to bring in about $1 billion, which will be the biggest in the history of boxing. Based on a report by The Epoch Times, Mayweather will be getting the lion's share of the fight purse but both fighters are set to be paid from pay-per-view revenues.
Watson said in the same report by The Epoch Times, "It's going to be a great fight. Pacquiao's going to hit him too. Pacquiao's going to hit him just like (Miguel) Cotto hit him." He added, "It's going to be a real fight. Ain't no fight easy. At this stage, no fight is easy. That's why they fight for millions and millions of dollars. And Floyd loves spending money, so Floyd is gonna fight his ass off."
Pacquiao currently has a 57-5-2 record with 38 knockouts while Mayweather remains undefeated with 47-0 with 26 knockouts.
