Jennifer Lawrence ‘The Hanging Tree’ Single Makes it to Top 40

"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1" star Jennifer Lawrence proved once again that what you can do, she can do better.

BBC reported that the Academy Award-winning actress has added a Top 40 on her already long list of achievements for her performance of "The Hanging Tree" which she sang on the latest installment of "The Hunger Games."

The track, with lyrics written by the Suzanne Collins, and co-written and by James Newton and the folk rock band, The Lumineers, landed on number 29 on the Official Charts company mid-week sales figures.

This is quite an achievement for the actress, considering that she described her voice on David Letterman earlier this month, as something like a "tone-deaf Amy Winehouse."

Despite the mid-week sales, the official chart position, according to the Independent UK, will not be confirmed until Sunday.

On the top of the charts however include Band Aid 30's "Do They Know It's Christmas" which was re-recorded as a charity single, the profits to be going towards the fight against Ebola. Take That's "These Days" is on number two, and Olly Murs and Travie McCoy's "Wrapped Up" lands on the third spot.

While JLaw's single started strong at the Top 40, Headline Planet reports that "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1" soundtrack is off to a slow start. Lorde's contribution to the soundtrack, "Yellow Flicker Beat" may have been the lead single, but the sales tally only put the album on number 17 on its debut at the Billboard 200.

With the figures in for the songs in the film, what about the film itself? The third installment of the series hit a record of $275 million on the global front, but locally, sales were not so good. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film debuted with $123 million, which, although a large amount, is lower than the opening grosses for "The Hunger Games" and "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire."

The first half of the two-part finale to Suzanne Collin's books starred Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Julianne Moore, and Philip Seymour Hoffman, who was not able to finish shooting his scenes due to his untimely death.

The second half of Mockingjay will debut on November 20 next year.
