Sting made his long-awaited WWE debut at Survivor Series on November 23, opening the storyline towards an ultimate battle against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 31.
In a report by Rolling Stone, the most exciting part of Survivor Series would probably be the return of the man in black and face paint. Sting went to work immediately and decimated The Authority, executing a Scorpion Death Drop on Triple H in the process.
The events on Sunday night will most likely make The Authority an obstacle in Sting's path towards The Undertaker. Sting signed a performer's contract, where he might wrestle more than once. Bleacher Report wrote that Sting might be involved in a match against Triple H in Royal Rumble to continue to build momentum towards WrestleMania 31. Bray Wyatt might also clash with Sting, which in effect will propel his status.
WhatCulture.com reported that there is also a possibility that The Undertaker may already be retired by the time WrestleMania happens in February 2015, considering how Survivor Series climaxed leaving loose ends between Sting and Triple H.
Another hint that a Sting-Undertaker match may no longer happen is the removal by WWE Network of the episode of The Monday Night War featuring the two superstars. The episode was entitled "The Foundations of War" but it was pulled out and replaced by another episode.
In the same What Culture report, a mega bout between Sting, who is 55 years old, against Undertaker, 49, would not be very exciting, or might even prove physically risky. On the other hand, Triple H has the ability to make the veteran Sting look good despite his age. Triple H has the experience and popularity that will make Sting look good before he finally exits professional wrestling for good. The WWE might have weighed its options and decided to go with Triple H versus Sting, which is still another manner of battling two legends from two different wrestling organizations.
Sting may be way past his prime, but he is still a delight to see in action. Fans do not expect him to reign as WWE champion for several months but he will add to the controversy and intrigue that the WWE direly needs.
In the meantime, WWE fans can still make a dream fight happen between Sting and The Undertaker via the video game WWE 2K15. IGN.com showed a video pitting Sting 1999 against The Undertaker. The players were even able to add the 1991 Surfer Sting as manager.
