"X-Men: Apocalypse" finally has its villain and Oscar Isaac is going to play the titular role in what director Bryan Singer has described to be the most destructive film so far in the superhero franchise.
In a report made by Variety, Singer has said, "'Apocalypse' will have more of the mass destruction that 'X-Men' films, to date, have not relied upon. There's definitely now a character and a story that allow room for that kind of spectacle."
With such a big, bad villain in the latest film, what will Apocalypse be like? Here are some things you need to know about X-Men's latest baddie:
1) He's better than Dracula
Apocalypse and Dracula had some conflict years ago, but Apocalypse was the telekinetic guy from the end credits of "X-Men: Days of Future Past". He was a castaway from his tribe back from his youth in ancient Egypt, so he was raised by nomads, enslaved, and when he got his abilities, he reigned with terror by taking his revenge on the people who wronged him, which means that with all the things he was able to do, Dracula lost his battle with Apocalypse. And you thought The Count was a baddie?
2) He puts "super" in superpowers
He's strong, he has energy beams to shoot people, he's practically impenetrable, he's telekinetic - and he can give superpowers to others. Which makes him the ultimate villain, but since fighting everyone with that range of superpowers, most of the battles he's involved with tend to get boring. He's practically omnipotent, so there's really not much to fight for.
3) He probably taught Natural Selection to Charles Darwin
Even before Darwin taught Natural Selection, Apocalypse loved the thought of survival of the fittest. Apparently, he thinks that mutants are the superior race, similar to the way Magneto thinks, but without the deep-down noble heart. Since he's more evil than Magneto, he treats ordinary humans like cattle.
4) He perfected the "Mean Girl" move even before the movie came out
Apocalypse has his own entourage - "horsemen" who does his dirty work for him. Of course, they're far scarier than the Plastics, because his horsemen are: War, Famine, Pestilence, and Death, and the heroes of the Marvel Universe are not immune to their powers.
5) He died and became irrelevant.
With the ultimate villain meeting his end in the most anticlimactic way (he was defeated in a 1999 storyline) his return did not do anything for his character, and people just forgot about him. Until now, that is.
Do you think Apocalypse will be the ultimate villain who will finally defeat the X-Men?
