Another weather-themed colorway of the Nike KD7 is set to release on November 25.
On Tuesday, the new Nike KD7 "Lightning 534" is set to release at Nike.com and selected Nike retail outlets. Foot Locker and House of Hoops by Foot Locker will also be offering the sneakers, beginning 8:00 EST. According Nike.com, only one pair will be available per customer. Full family sizing will be available. The adult men sizes will retail at $150, the girl sizes will retail at $115, the preschool sizes will sell at $75 and the toddler sizes will be available at $55.
Nike.com also added that the box label describes the colorway as "Cave Purple/Hyper Grape/Magnet Grey/Bleached Turquoise". The KD7 "Lightning 534" is inspired by the electricity in New York City and the unique lightning rod on the Empire State Building located on Fifth Avenue and 34th Street. People will notice a purple hue that appears in the sky whenever lightning strikes.
High Snobiety reported that Kevin Durant himself described that the shoes are inspired by the electricity of New York's basketball scene. Since Durant was a boy, he has been always interested in meteorology and weather conditions. The KD7 pays tribute to Durant's style of play and his love for studying the weather. Durant said in the Nike.com report, "Basketball has an amazing energy that pulls me in. The electricity of New York's basketball scene is something that city should be proud of."
In a Complex.com report, the upper of the KD7 "Lightning 534" is predominantly purple. The front portion is purple while the back part features a darker shade of purple. The midsole is magnet grey while the outsole and flywire are bright pink. The unique strap at the midfoot, tongue, shoelaces and insoles are also purple. The Swoosh is bleached turquoise as well as the KD logo on the tongue. The graphics on the Swoosh and outsole are reminiscent of weather patterns.
The Nike KD7 also features a visible Zoom Air unit at the heel, providing great cushioning. The outsole pattern, flywire and midfoot strap provides an excellent fit so that players can make quick cuts and moves in the same fashion as the OKC small forward. The mid-cut design provides more room for moving without sacrificing support. The shoe also features hyperposite cushioning for ultimate comfort and responsiveness on both indoor and outdoor basketball courts. Players will appreciate the great fit and responsiveness in every step.
