After a dominant win against Chris Algieri on November 22 at the Cotai Arena in Macau, Manny Pacquiao again tries to lure Floyd Mayweather out to fight him.
The Filipino pride said in a NY Post report, "I think it's time to make that fight happen. The fans really deserve that fight. It's time to say, yes, so people can prepare for early next year."
Freddie Roach, Pacquiao's trainer also said, "I think that anybody, whoever reads about Mayweather or Manny will say, 'Why didn't these guys fight each other?' It'll always be a question mark. Let's face it; the best should fight the best. They've been the best guys out there for over three years. Usually, the best does fight the best somewhere along the line. This is something that will haunt them forever."
Bob Arum, Pacquiao's promoter, also said in the same NY Post report, "If boxing is to be considered a major sport, the fight has to happen. All the nonsense has to cease. Everybody should be working together to make that fight. There are no excuses anymore. None. I'll be at the phone. Manny will be at his phone. We're ready."
In a report by Interaksyon.com, Pacquiao was asked about his thoughts on a giant bout against Floyd Mayweather, right after he scored six knockdowns and won against Algieri. He reprised his statement in a recent Foot Locker advertisement, "He's going to fight me?! Yes! Yes!" He initially smiled then changed to a more serious tone, "I'm ready. I'm ready to fight next year."
Mayweather has been ridiculed for allegedly dodging a fight against the eight-division world champion, which 'Money' vehemently denies. In a report by CBS News, the undefeated American said after he won against Marcos Maidana in September 2014, "If the Pacquiao fight happens, it happens. You can ask the same questions and get the same answers. I call my own shots."
In a Daily Mail report, Arum planned a mega-fight that would generate $1 billion, mainly relying on a $5 pay-per-view in China. In America, the price would be $95, the biggest in boxing history. Arum opined that he can sell 3 million pay-per-views at $95. Considering the staggering amount and the fact that both fighters are running out of exciting opponents, a fight may finally be in place. Both boxers will expectedly receive much more than the usually $20 to $30 million that they regularly receive per match. Both Pacquiao and Mayweather are past their prime but are still expected to bring the fight of the century.
