One of the most anticipated parts of WWE Survivor Series 2014 on November 23 is the return of Sting.
According a report by Fansided.com, Sting is set to appear in St. Louis, Missouri either before or after the Diva's match. PW Mania previously reported that the script has been set to debut Sting at WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view before the women's Elimination Tag Team Match.
However, Sting will not be wrestling but will be presented to begin a whole new storyline which will ultimately pit him against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 31 in 2015.
Sting is a 15-time world champion, having held many of his titles while wrestling at WCW, NWA and TNA. Since April 2014, Sting has been making non-archive, media-related appearances with WWE. He was named the greatest superstar never to wrestle in a WWE ring and was voted the "Most Popular Wrestler of the Year" four times by Pro Wrestling Illustrated readers, together with John Cena.
After promoting his bonus character on the video game "WWE 2K15", Sting, real name Steve Borden, has become part of the WWE family, said Daily Mirror. Since then, developments have ensued to realize a dream match between Sting and The Undertaker for WrestleMania 31.
Wrestle Zone reports that Sting was brought to the arena in private so that fans would not notice his arrival. Sting was originally scheduled to appear and fight on his first WWE pay-per-view on WrestleMania 31 comes March 2015. Sting was just doing promotional rounds for WWE and 2K's recently released video game "WWE 2K15" for the time being before WWE decided to include him in this year's Survivor Series, notes the report.
It is not the PPV sales that WWE seeks to benefit from with the unannounced appearance of Sting on Survivor Series but the network seeks to gain a good hold of the "free" viewing audience Sunday night, added the Wrestle Zone.
In addition to Sting, another big name who is set to return to the squared circle on tonight's Survivor Series is Randy Orton, reports Wrestling Inc. Orton flew in from Albuquerque, Mexico, fresh from filming his movie "The Condemned 2." He was already in St. Louise before WWE's pay-per-view event at Scottrade Center, adds the report.
The WWE has likewise brought Roman Reigns on Friday to be at the Survivor Series event after the wrestling superstar's appearance and autograph signing at Reno, noted Wrestle Zone.
Wrestling Observer Radio, as reported by the same Wrestling Inc. article, believes that WWE may pull off another surprise should the audience be not thrilled or satisfied with the "surprise" or unannounced appearance of Sting and Randy Orton.
