George RR Martin's world of Westeros just keeps getting bigger and bigger. "Game of Thrones" season 5 is still under production, but while fans await the continuation of the epic story, they can look out for the next best thing: A "Game of Thrones" video game.
Made by Telltale Games, the New York Daily reports that the game is said to be an episodic series based on HBO's hit show. It will show characters and events as seen in the series, and the first episode is to be called "Game of Thrones Episode One: Iron From Ice."
In this installment, it is said that players will be able to relive the events that happened at the end of season three throughout the beginning of season five. Known characters from the hit show will be able to interact with players, and new characters will be introduced as well.
However, if you're planning to take on the role of a Stark, a Lannister, or a Targaryen, you will be disappointed, considering that players will only be able to take on the storyline through the viewpoint of five different characters from House Forrester, who were loyal bannermen to House Stark.
Wired was able to reveal an original character for the game, called Maester Ortengryn. According to Telltale, the master originated from a minor house in the Vale, with hopes of being assigned to the Eyrie. However, with the death of Jon Arryn, he had to be assigned to Ironrath, where he served and soon came to respect the Forresters, ultimately becoming a trusted advisor to the Lord.
The game's website also pointed out that a new story in the world of Westeros will be told, but it won't be predestined by the HBO's show (which would be a good thing, since you really would not want spoilers now, would you?). The game also calls for players to make choices along the story arc that will sooner or later have an effect throughout the rest of the play.
Telltale Games is said to release five other episodes in the series for the first season of the video game, and if it picks up, more seasons may be released in the future.
The "Game of Thrones" video games will be available for Play Station 3, Play Station 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, Mac, and other compatible devices.
The trailer was released last Thursday, and with it comes footage from the game, showing some of the most notable characters including Tyrion Lannister, Margaery Tyrell, and Ramsay Bolton, with the possible appearance of Theon Greyjoy. Also, the narrator sounds a lot like Lena Heady (Cersei Lanniseter in the series) Check it out:
