For a prolific singer who can churn out seven albums in a span of seven years, a lull of two years can be considered a drought.
On November 19, Rihanna marked exactly two years since releasing her seventh album "Unapologetic" in 2012. The singer-rapper has released a total of seven albums from 2005 to 2012, reports MTV.
"Unapologetic" turned out to be her career-best album debut, selling 238,000 copies on its first week of release. The 2012 album has since sold more than one million copies and has been certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America," details ET Online.
If the singer's recent interview with Entertainment Tonight is any indication, the long wait for the latest music from Rihanna maybe almost over, notes ET Online.
In an interview with ET's Sophie Schillaci on Tuesday, the 26-year-old singer-rapper disclosed that her next album should be out 'very soon.'
ET caught up with Rihanna while on the red carpet wearing a chic pink business attire for the premiere of the film "It's Not Over."
"That's my hope. I'm really excited about the music that we've been working on so I can't wait for people to hear it," Rihanna said.
While there is no specific date mentioned on the actual release or even the title of her latest album, Rihanna nonetheless confirmed that something is indeed in the works, which is more than enough to get her fans more excited than ever, points out MTV.
Rih-Rih is not ruling out the possibility of a surprise album release the way Beyonce did in December last year, cites ET Online.
Album Leak
Word of Rihanna's latest music spread on the internet late in October when a listing of tracks of her alleged new album titled "Lost Files" were leaked online, as detailed by Urban Islandz in an October 29 article.
The pop singer's leaked "Lost Files" album contained 14 cuts including four songs that featured collaborations with Nicki Minaj, Drake, Big Sean, and Eminem, added the report.
The leakage was not in the form of audio files but a blurry photo of the alleged track list of Rihanna's supposed new album. But the singer's label, Roc Nation, said that the image that made the rounds in the internet is 'totally fake,' points out Urban Islandz.
In addition to the online leak, Rihanna's 8th and latest album is already generating hype from the singer's fans in social media since September, added the report.
