The home of Mafia boss Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando) in "The Godfather" is up for grabs if you're willing to pay the $2.89 million price tag.
The Staten Island mansion was featured in the 1972 classic film and the real estate agency handling the sale did not think twice about using the pop culture reference as a selling point.
The managing principal of the Realtors in charge of the home, Joseph Profaci, said in an email (as printed by Reuters), "A house's value depends on what people are willing to pay for it, and some people may be willing to pay more for a home with a compelling story."
He also said that "the connection to the film certainly gives the home a certain cache for movie buffs. But that cache is enhanced by the fact the home was in fact built circa 1930."
In a report by Mirror UK, Profaci went on, saying, "Lending even more romance to the story is my favourite feature of the house - an old wooden door in the dining room which looks like the entrance to speakeasy bar. It leads down a dark staircase to an English pub and huge game room with an enormous stone fireplace. It could be the ultimate man cave."
Despite the status of the house as being the one in the iconic film, director Francis Ford Coppola only filmed the exterior for the movie: the English Tudor-inspired exterior is as good as any to be used as the home of a Mafia don, and most of the filming happened on the 24,000 square feet garden, including the famous Sicilian-style wedding scene from the film.
The current owner, however, was said to have remodeled the interior to make parts of the house similar to the décor in some of the scenes from the film, which includes the office where Don Corleone sat to pull the strings of his Mafia Empire.
The online listing for the mansion states that it is a 6,248 square foot manor, five bedrooms and seven bathrooms; complete with a gym and playroom, as well as a basement game room and a four-car garage.
Fans of the film would be up in arms to be able to buy the home of the Mafia Don from what is deemed to be one of the best movies of all time. But to be able to live the life of Don Corleone, Profaci said that they must be able to "make him an offer he can't refuse."
