Terminator films have been big in cinemas, but when 2009's "Terminator Salvation" failed miserably, things have quieted down about the franchise.
Until now.
Apparently, Paramount Pictures thought that it needs a new director, one with a good rep, and one who could get the franchise going. With that, Cinema Blend reports that the company picked Alan Taylor to helm the film.
Taylor is known for his work in the small screen with big hits like "Game of Thrones," "The Sopranos," and "Sex and the City."
His first big film was with Marvel Studios, when they hired him to direct "Thor: The Dark World." "Terminator: Genisys" will be his second big budget film and Arnold Schwarzenegger will be appearing in it again.
The actor appeared in all but the fourth film, to which he explained, "I was upset that I couldn't be in the fourth Terminator, because I was Governor. So they did the fourth one without me, it made me cry a little bit. But I did say, 'I'll be back,' so now I'm back again and it's going to be really terrific."
But at 66, can Schwarzenegger still pull off being T-800? The actor explained that the robot is still in a perfect condition, but the human body in which it was wrapped in does age.
He explained on MTV, "The way that the character is written, it's a machine underneath. It's this metal skeleton. But above that is human flesh. And the Terminator's flesh ages, just like any other human being's flesh. Maybe not as fast. But it definitely ages. ... Terminator deals a lot with time travel, so there will be a younger T-800, and then what that model does later on when it gets reprogrammed, and who gets ahold of him. So it will be all kinds of interesting twists in the movie, but I feel so good."
He also knew it could be a challenge, telling MTV that, "It will be challenging because it will be a new director, and it will be a really action packed movie. And sometimes it does get more difficult when you're 66 years old and doing this kind of action, versus when you're in your 30s or in your 40s."
Terminator: Genisys will star Arnold Schwazenegger, Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, Jason Clarke as John Connor, and Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese, set to be released in theaters on July 1, 2015.
