For prop-maker Eric Hart, costume making is probably a day-to-day activity. But the father of a baby boy put his skills to good use when he made his son, Collier, an Iron Man costume in hopes of making him "feel brave."

Hart uploaded a video on YouTube while documenting his work on the tiny Iron Man suit, and to add some context to his piece, he added text and photos and videos of his baby boy, who was born prematurely and has spent over four months being hooked up to wires and insulated to stay alive.

Hart wrote, "Our son has spent his entire life in hospital. For his first Halloween, he needed a costume that would help him feel brave. Why not Iron Man?"

Hart discussed why he chose Iron Man on Right This Minute saying, "Collier's hooked up to the machines all the time and Iron Man, he built the suit because he needed a machine to keep himself alive. I just thought if he had a little Iron Man suit he could come home with us."

How did the prop-maker produce the costume for his baby? As shown in the video, Hart used a paper pattern he found online, scaled down to baby size. He then cut out various sections of the outfit and later on traced and cut the shapes into pieces of foam, securing them together with hot glue to form the helmet.

On October 31, he placed his creation on his baby's head as he lay in his mother's arms in the intensive care unit. According to Yahoo! the devoted dad made the costume in four hours over two days, which paid off. Even though he only had little Collier wear the Iron Man helmet for a minute, it was more than enough; he's growing stronger and battling to go home.

Collier's father was not the only one who loved seeing the child in a superhero costume. On Tuesday, Hart tweeted, "Last night at rounds, the doctors asked when they could see Collier in his Iron Man suit again. They thought it was adorable."

There is no news yet on whether or not Collier could be going home soon, but as for now, his family, along with the thousands of people who saw Eric's video, are praying for the little tyke to finally get the strength enough to go home.
