American singer and songwriter Katy Perry is not back in the arms of Russell Brand. But she admits that she was in a 'darker place' after her divorce with her ex-husband on December 2011, reports MSN Entertainment.
Perry, who is currently in Australia for her Prismatic World Tour, also hinted entertaining suicidal thoughts after the divorce, states AOL.
In an interview with the Australian show "The Project," the 30-year-old pop star detailed how she felt when she parted ways with her 39-year-old Comedian ex-husband.
"Sometimes you can be blinded by your extreme emotions. I definitely was looking for answers during that time I wrote that song ("By the Grace of God"). And yeah, I was depressed. And it was sad. And there were thoughts, but there were never actions, thankfully," reveals Perry.
Katy Perry also confirmed that it was indeed her breakup with Brand that inspired him to write "By the Grace of God," notes MSN Entertainment.
Katy was also being very consistent as her latest interview on "The Project" only validated her sentiments and statements she shared to Billboard on September 2013, which was also reported on a September 30, 2013 article of Entertainment Tonight.
"'By the Grace of God' is the first song that I wrote coming to make this record, when I was in a different place, I was in a darker place," Katy Perry said.
"You always feel like you're the only one going through that. Well then comes along a song that speaks to you, that makes you feel like, 'Gosh, I can get through this. If she can get through this, I can get through this'," she expressed.
"That song is evident of how tough it really was at a certain point. I asked myself, 'Do I want to endure? Should I continue living?'" Perry said, obviously hinting that she did entertain suicidal thoughts during her ordeal.
AOL do thinks that Katy Perry was indeed alluding to her personal predicament in the song particularly with the lines: "Couldn't take it anymore. I looked in the mirror and decided to stay. Wasn't gonna let love take me out that way."
MSN Entertainment states that Katy has since moved on from her once failed marriage. He has since dated singer John Mayer and is currently being rumored to be dating Diplo, an American DJ, music producer, rapper, and songwriter.
Katy has also told Billboard magazine recently that her latest hit song "Prism" also exposed how vulnerable she was after her divorce, cited the report.
"I can only write autobiographically. I put all the evidence in (my) music. I tell my fans if they want to know the real truth about stuff (about me), just listen to (my) songs," Katy Perry said.
