Soccer superstar David Beckham is passing the torch to his eldest son Brooklyn.

Brooklyn Beckham, 15 years old, was signed by Arsenal for a short-term contract after he impressed coaches at the Emirates on trial with the Gunners. The young Beckham will be playing for Arsenal until the end of the season, based on a report by the Daily Star.

A source told Daily Star, "Brooklyn is talented and he has stood out in all of the training sessions and games he has played. He has had other teams sniffing around and it was always going to be a case of when, not if, he was signed up by a big-name club.  Arsenal realise he can be a huge talent. They have seen that potential and protected their asset. The club has signed him, fending off interest from Manchester United and Chelsea in the meantime. Next summer we may see him sign a big-money deal and with Arsenal."

Other clubs also showed interest in Brooklyn, such as Chelsea and his father's former club, Manchester United.

Bleacher Report wrote that should Brooklyn continue to improve in his game, he might be signed for the long term by the club. Some fans speculated that David Beckham was probably a strong factor in helping his son land a contract. However, Brooklyn has been an asset for the Gunners and scouts have been eyeing on him for some time.

It can be an advantage that he shares his last name with one of the most famous names in soccer history, so people can expect Brooklyn Beckham merchandise and advertisements to surface in the near future. It will take a while before Brooklyn can show his full potential and possibly play for Arsenal U19 or the Premier League. Arsenal is yet to comment on their new acquisition. ESPN reported that the Gunners' Premier League match will be against Manchester United.

Brooklyn's two younger brothers, Romeo and Cruz, age 12 and 9 respectively, are also currently training with the youth teams of Arsenal. Bleacher Report wrote that Romeo is a member of Arsenal U13 while Cruz is a member of Arsenal U10.

David Beckham has been bringing his sons to the Emirates repeatedly and is said to be close with manager Arsene Wenger. David himself trained with Arsenal in January 2013 before joining Paris St. Germain, which would eventually be his last club before retiring in the summer of 2014.
