The Nike Zoom Vapor Air Jordan 3 "Black Cement" is set to be released on November 10.
According to USA Today, Nike's Twitter account, @nikelab, tweeted at 2:14 a.m. on November 7, "NIKECOURT Zoom Vapor AJ3. Back in black. Coming November 10. #NikeLab."
Sole Collector wrote that the shoes will be available at 1:00 p.m. EST or 10:00 a.m. PST on Monday at a retail price of $200.
Based on the same report by USA Today, tennis star Roger Federer featured the "White Cement" version of the sneakers at the U.S. Open in August 2014, which was inspired by the Air Jordan 3, which first released in 1988. The Nike shoes were a collaboration between Federer and Michael Jordan, which retailed at $200 but were immediately bought off the shelves by shoe collectors or resold at $800 to $1,000.
Sole Collector notes that the Nike Zoom Vapor Air Jordan 3 "Black Cement" might even be more difficult to avail of starting November 10, because Flight 23 and 21 Mercer in New York City are the two only known shops that will have the shoes available. Pairs in other parts of the globe will also be available at NikeLab, which has six locations, namely 21 Mercer in NYC, 1948 London, LNZ1 Milan, P75 Paris, X158 Shanghai and PS7 Hong Kong. Potential purchasers will have to go online to purchase a pair.
Kicks on Fire reported that Flight 23 will be limiting their sale of the Nike Zoom Vapor Air Jordan 3 "Black Cement" to only one pair per customer. Furthermore, the shop held a raffle-style process on November 4 and 5 to issue tickets limitedly to give people a chance to buy a pair in their size. Those who purchase from NikeLab online will also have to go through the same raffling process for a chance to avail.
HypeBeast.com wrote that the upcoming sneakers are highly inspired by the classic elements of the Air Jordan 3 "Black Cement", plus modern technology that are available on Federer's own signature shoe. The tennis shoes feature black tumbled leather upper and tongue, elephant prints on the panels and a highly improved midsole and outsole to suit Federer's game. There are also red and grey tones throughout the shoe. The midsole is white and the outsole is grey, featuring XDR material to guarantee durability in outdoor courts. A red Jumpman is stitched on the tongue while the "RF" logo is near the front portion of the midsole.
