Floyd "Money" Mayweather was rated as the highest paid athlete by Forbes in June 2014.

This is the second time in three years that he got the top spot. He also became the second athlete to earn at least $100 million in a span of one year, with golf great Tiger Woods being the first. In a report by Sport-English.com, Woods dropped down in the top ten after losing various endorsement deals. He still remains at the sixth spot, however, with $61.2 million.

In the list, Floyd is at the No. 1 spot, raking in a total of $105 million from his last two fights against Marcos Maidana in May and September 2014 and Canelo Alvarez in 2013.

According to the Forbes report, Mayweather has earned close to $400 million from boxing since he became a pro boxer in 1996. He earned at least $25 million in each of his last nine fights, dating back to 2007 when he won over Oscar De La Hoya. The Mayweather-De La Hoya fight turned out to be the most watched fight in pay-per-view history. The past 12 months has been the most lucrative for the undefeated boxer in his entire career.

The bout between Mayweather and Canelo in September 2013 set records for the highest PPV gross of $150 million, live gate of $20 million and total revenue of about $200 million. In the fight between Floyd and Maidana in May 2014, "Money" took home a guaranteed $32 million. The total PPV purchases are expected to be around 900,000 to one million.

Considering how several athletes earn a huge part of their income from endorsements like LeBron James and Manny Pacquiao, Mayweather earned zero dollars from endorsements, which means that his total paycheck could have been bigger. Forbes wrote that Mayweather gets added income from being a fight promoter. He owns Mayweather Promotions, which reportedly has a pool of about 12 boxers.

In a report by Genius.com, soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo garnered the No. 2 spot with $80 million. He recently signed a deal with Real Madrid for five years, valued at $206 million. LeBron James is at the third spot with $72.3 million. Majority of LeBron's income comes from his endorsement deals. Lionel Messi earned $64.7 in the past 12 months, making him the fourth highest paid athlete. Kobe Bryant rounded out the top five with $64.7 million.

No other boxer is in the top ten. However, Mayweather's biggest rival, Filipino Manny Pacquiao, is at No. 11 with $41.8 million.
