Chrysler does not want to go the way of fellow American car company General Motors in possibly paying off hefty claims as a result of manufacturing defects on its vehicles.

On Wednesday, the Chrysler Group has recalled nearly 400,000 of its RAM trucks to rectify, what the company said, as potential fire hazard, states Yahoo! News from a Reuters report.

USA Today, however, reported that the total Chrysler vehicle recall is about 566,062 as it also involves some of the company's SUVs due to faulty stability controls.

In an official statement, the company admitted that they have found problems with their 2010 to 2014 models of the Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups, as well as their 4500 and 5500 chassis cabs. Equipped with Cummins diesel engines, Chrysler said that the diesel fuel heaters on these vehicles might get too hot which may result to fuel leak, Yahoo! News detailed.

Chrysler is also pulling out its 2014 model Jeep and Dodge SUVs from the global auto market because of electronic stability control defect, cites USA Today.

The company said in the same official statement that it discovered that the debris cover shielding an electronic circuit board could inadvertently disrupt signals and disable the stability control of the SUV, points out the report.

Picking up a neat lesson from the GM experience, Chrysler made the recall of its vehicles even with nary a report of accidents or injuries related to the cited defects in its vehicles.

In February this year, GM has recalled 2.6 million of its small vehicles in the market for faulty ignition switches. Since August 1, the company has been accepting and paying claims for death and injuries as a result of the car defects.

In an October 20 article, WZZM 13 reports that GM estimates to shell out between $400 million to $600 million in claims until the end of the year.

Chrysler will be recalling a total of 381,876 of its Ram pickup tracks, 314,704 of which are in the United States, 59,432 in Canada, 1,803 in Mexico, and 5,937 outside of North America, notes USA Today.

The American automaker is also recalling 184,186 of its 2014 Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs; 132,223 of which are found in the US, 8,871 in Canada, 4,742 in Mexico, and 38,350 can be found outside of North American, the report added.

USA Today also said that Chrysler shall notify the owners of the recalled vehicle models when they can start scheduling the repairs of their respective trucks and SUVs.
