Disney's CEO Bob Iger has maintained that the company is not rushing into making "Frozen 2," because they do not want to disappoint fans of the animation who watched the 2013 release over and over again.
In an interview, Iger said via Hallels that "In order to make the perfect movie sequel, the filmmakers have to write the perfect follow-up story for it. Otherwise, Frozen won't be as good anymore and that would surely disappoint everyone."
Christian Today has noted that most of Disney's hits like "Beauty and the Beast," "Aladdin," "The Lion King," and "The Little Mermaid" were not rushed and had the sequels released direct to DVD, which is what they seem to be planning with "Frozen" as well.
Being the biggest animation the company has released to date, they do want to keep audiences interested, with a Broadway show, a few novels, and video games and merchandise in the line-up.
But what about the sequel?
Here are some things we know so far:
1) The short film is going to be called "Frozen Fever," as reported by The Independent UK.
2) It will be set during Anna's birthday, with Kristoff and Elsa planning a big surprise for her. The official synopsis read, "It's Anna's birthday and Elsa and Kristoff are determined to give her the best celebration ever, but Elsa's icy powers may put more than just the party at risk."
3) In an interview with IGN a few months ago, Kristen Bell, who plays Anna in the film, said that she'd want to do it again, because she had a big role in shaping Anna's character. She also wants Anna and Olaf to have more adventures together.
As a bonus, the writers of Frozen's anthem song, "Let it Go," will also be writing the songs to the sequel, so fans can expect another song that we can't get off our heads and could quite possibly be another one to hit the Top 20.
