The nurses who reportedly contracted Ebola are now free from the disease, but in order to control it as much as possible, Federal health officials placed new restrictions for travelers from West African countries with reported outbreaks. The New York Times said that as part of the precaution, said travelers are required to report their temperatures daily for three weeks, together with any potential symptoms of the disease.
The federal rule is to take effect on Monday. Travelers who visited Guinea, Liberia, or Sierra Leone will have to provide home and email addresses, telephone numbers, and other necessary contact details for themselves and at least one friend or relative, and they will have to check in with their state or local health departments and report morning and evening temperatures for 21 days upon arrival.
Despite the caution that are put in place for the disease, singer Katy Perry is not actually afraid of contracting Ebola, at least, that's not the reason she's forgoing her dreams of becoming Cleopatra for a day. According to E! News, the singer, who planned on celebrating her big 3-0 on a cruise on the river Nile, pulled the plug on her plans to go to Egypt not because of Ebola virus disease, but due to her safety concerns with the political arrest ongoing.
With her Africa plans cancelled, there's no word as to where she will go instead, but her show will definitely resume on November 7 as planned; she will be doing her Australia / New Zealand leg until December 20, and will take on Europe beginning February 16, finishing off with a show in Stockholm on March 22.
Other reports say that she's just concerned with safety after her itinerary was leaked.
Regardless of her botched plans to be Cleopatra while on the Nile River, she's still having a good birthday week, with a surprise from Shakey's Pizza to start it off right: a marquee with a birthday greeting for her!
The surprise came after the singer tweeted, "All I want for my birthday is my name on the Shakey's Pizza marquee on Santa Monica Blvd. Please."
She even posted a photo of the marquee via her Instagram, captioning the shot with, "KICKING OFF BIRTHDAY WEEK RIGHT! This signage is a bucket list dream come true!!! SHOUT OUT TO ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS FOR KILLING THE GIFT GAME @rivfifi"
The mentioned friend is Sofia Rossi, who happens to be the co-founder of Hello Giggles and is one of Katy's closest friends.
Looks like her birthday week is off to a good start. Unfortunately, her other birthday dream can't come true, as there will be no rainbow chip frosting from Betty Crocker.
