American supermodel Chrissy Teigen got strong reactions from the public after making several posts about the shooting in Canada on Twitter on Wednesday.
"Active shooting in Canada, or as we call it in America, Wednesday," she said in a Twitter post.
An attack on Canada's parliament has left at least one soldier dead, the AFP reported earlier.
The Associated Press reported that the soldier who was killed has been identified as Cpl. Nathan Cirillo. He was posted at the National War Memorial when he was shot.
The masked gunman was later identified as 32-year-old petty criminal Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, the report added. The attack unfolded before 10 a.m. when Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper was addressing a caucus. He was able to escape.
AP report said that Prime Minister Stephen Harper called the latest attack the "second terrorist attack in three days." Harper maintains that Canada "will never be intimidated," AP also reported.
Teigen's first tweet about the Canada shooting was followed by another Twitter post which said "That's not a joke. It is a fact."
And was again followed by another tweet saying "Sorry you don't understand that is a knock at america and our issues with gun control. No one is minimizing the Ottawa shooting."
She also said in another post that she will not say sorry to anyone about her statements, adding that if people have taken it wrong, it is already their fault.
She also made it clear in another tweet that she is not saying Canada has "a lot of shootings." She also added in a separate post that she has "lost faith in this world" and said "Sorry if it comes off as being unemotional. There is just so much bad."
But she never stopped, posting another tweet which said, "It's been a while since I inadvertently pissed a ton of people off. Forgot how much it sucks."
The model later revealed in another post that her Twitter timeline is now filled with "toast talk and death threats."
Huffington Post, in a way, commended the model -- saying in a report that she has a good point. To back it up, it cited a chart published by The Washington Post in 2012 showing that "the U.S. has the highest gun ownership rate in the world and the highest per capita rate of firearm-related murders of all developed countries."
ETonline.com said in a report that Teigen had been political in Twitter before. It said that she has also shared some of her thoughts on current issues such as Ebola and even school children's health.
The report also said that back in 2013, the model was asked by GC if she regretted any of her tweets. She responded, "All the time! But not really a regret that I thought it, just that I said it." Chrissy Teigen is the wife of known singer songwriter John Legend.
