After the full trailer of the "Avengers: Age of Ultron" was leaked online, Marvel Entertainment has finally released its official teaser trailer ahead of its schedule.
Time, citing a report published by The Verge, said that the trailer was supposed to be released during the "Agents of SHIELD" on Tuesday.
@Avengers on October 22 posted on Twitter, "Tune in to #Marvel's #AgentsofSHIELD, Tuesday, October 28, 9|8c on @ABCNetwork to see the #AgeofUltron trailer on TV!"
The Verge said that the debut did not push through as a "poor quality version" of the trailer has made it online. The leaked video as of press time, has already been taken down, it added.
Reacting to the leaked trailer, Marvel Entertainment posted on its Twitter account @Marvel: "Dammit, Hydra." This made fans happy and excited. As of writing, the post has gained over 17,000 retweets and more than 12,000 favorites.
Hours after that post, Marvel unveiled its official trailer on another post on Twitter which said, "Here it is! Watch the @Avengers: #AgeofUltron Teaser Trailer right NOW: https://youtu.be/tmeOjFno6Do #Avengers." The post has more than 5,000 retweets and almost 3,000 favorites as of press time. The video uploaded on YouTube, on the other hand, has at least more than 23,000 likes to date.
That announcement was then followed by another post on Twitter wherein Marvel unveiled the movie's official teaser poster.
"Avengers: Age of Ultron" is again directed by American director and screenwriter Joss Whedon. Variety.com said that the first "Avengers" film is the "third highest-grossing film of all-time" after earning $1.5 billion in 2012.
The sequel will again feature the original cast members -- Robert Downey, Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.
Samuel L. Jackson will portray Nick Fury, Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill, and James Spader as Ultron, Marvel added. There are also newcomers -- Aaron Johnson as "Kick Ass" and Elizabeth Olsen as Quicksilver and The Scarlett Witch, it was also revealed.
"Marvel Studios presents 'Avengers: Age of Ultron,' the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth's Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to the Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure," Marvel posted on its website.
The team must reassemble to defeat Ultron, "a terrifying technological villain hell-bent on human extinction," said Marvel. They also have to confront Wanda Maximoff and Pietro Maximoff.
"The Avengers: Age of Ultron," which is based on the Marvel comic book series "The Avengers" first published in 1963, will hit theaters in May.
