Undefeated boxing champ Floyd Mayweather Jr continues to win outside the ring.
In a report by Mail Online, Mayweather bet with a handicap of 3.5 on the Arizona Cardinals against the Oakland Raiders on October 19. The Cardinals won 24-13 on Sunday, allowing the boxer to take home $1.6 million, in addition to the staggering sums he won in the past few weeks, betting on NFL teams. So far, he has amassed close to $4 million from betting.
Here's a timeline of his most recent wins in sports betting according to Mail Online.
1. On September 21, he put in $720,000 and went home with $1.4 million when the Indianapolis Colts won against the Jacksonville Jaguars 44-17.
2. On October 6, he placed a "small" bet of $220,000 for the Seattle Seahawks to win against the Washington Redskins and raked in $420,000 after a 17-7 victory by the defending NFL champions.
3. On October 8, he bet on the Denver Broncos to win over the New York Jets. He put in $815,000 and won $1.44 million.
4. For the Cardinals-Raiders game, he bet $800,000 and came out with $1.56 million.
Mayweather posted photos of his betting tickets and stacks of the prize in social media networks. Some fans commented on social media why he bet the smallest on the defending champs.
It is no secret that Mayweather likes to spend big. When he celebrated his second victory against Maidana, he was billed $25,000 at Hard Rock Café in Las Vegas. After he won the Broncos bet, he made it rain cash at a Los Angeles adult bar, Sam's Hofbrau. In most occasions, he would average $100,000 tabs when going to strip clubs.
The highest-paid athlete in the world raked in $105 by fighting Saul Alvarez. In a report by MMAPayout.com, both his fights against Marcos Maidana in May and September 2014 brought him $32 million each, exclusive of pay-per-view earnings. The 37-year-old has two fights remaining on his six-fight contract with Showtime. He previously said that he will retire when his contract expires, despite the opportunity to land his biggest paycheck ever by fighting Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao. He currently has an estimated net worth of $280 million.
It seems like Mayweather's clairvoyant betting record is as unblemished as his undefeated boxing numbers at 47-0-0. Bleacher Report wrote that some, however, presume the possibility of Floyd also losing a few bets but not displaying these online. Either way, it appears that the champ will be betting until the rest of the NFL season.
