It's a sure thing that Johnny Depp will reprise his role as the notorious pirate, Jack Sparrow, but what came as a surprise is that someone else from the original cast may be planning his own return.
According to The Guardian, Orlando Bloom may be back as Will Turner in the fifth installment of the movie franchise, titled "Dead Men Tell No Tales."
The British actor revealed that he is in talks with the producers of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" series.
At the Oz Comic Con in Brisbane, he said, "There have certainly been some discussions about it and I'm open to it. That whole experience working with Johnny and (director) Gore (Verbinski) was really amazing for me. One of the reasons I jumped at the opportunity was because Johnny was involved. I was such a massive fan of Johnny Depp growing up so to get up close and personal to Johnny and see how he worked as an actor was just a massive gift."
Bloom played the role of the blacksmith-turned pirate in the first three movies of the franchise, but did not return for the fourth film in the series.
Screenrant has noted the loopholes of Bloom's possible return, suggesting that the conclusion of "On Stranger Tides" did not seem to have an opening for Will Turner's return. The website also said that bringing in Bloom is a questionable choice from a story-telling perspective, but the decade-long gap in real time for Bloom's last appearance in "The World's End" and "Dead Men Tell No Tales" "could be a clue to how Will might re-enter the story."
That being said, considering that the last time Bloom was in the franchise, he was married to Keira Knightley's character, Elizabeth Swann, questions about her return in the fifth installment also surfaced, and how she will fit in with the story.
The producers may already have something in mind though, and plans should be finalized as the film is set to shoot in Queensland soon as confirmed by the Australian Government Ministry for the Arts.
The most exciting part, however, is that aspiring actors and actresses can audition for roles in the film. An announcement has been made for interested participants to join. The Examiner notes that interested parties should be able to work in the state of California and the United States.
