Netflix's "Orange is the New Black" is such a success that barely a month after its second season premiered on June 6 this year, the critically-acclaimed TV series was signed for yet another season.

Yes, Orange fans are sure to witness a season 3, though its release date has not yet been confirmed.

Based on the book "Orange is the New Black: My Year in a Women's Prison" by Piper Kerman, the show promises to have "really amazing stories and twists and turns," according to todayszaman.com.

Kerman also said that new characters with crucial roles in the story's plot will be introduced in the series, featuring some back stories of returning characters.

One of show's new characters is Maria Stephanie Blake who will be playing the role of Birdie, a new jail officer of Litchfield Penitentiary, replacing George Mendez who is played by Pablo Schreiber in Season 2.

Perhaps, one of the most anticipated characters in the third season is Laura Prepon, playing  Alex Vause, former girlfriend of lead character Piper Chapman (played by Taylor Schilling).

It could be recalled in the first season that Vause was one of the most featured characters in Season 1. There have also been questions whether Laura Prepon would be returning to the regular rotation, who appeared almost infrequently in Season 2, only signing up on four episodes of the said season, according to screenrant.com.

Spoilers from Hallels.com said that Season 3 will also have some "spicy hot" sex scenes between Piper Chapman and Alex Voss, another thing to look forward to?

Still, good news for fans is that Prepon will return to series regular status in the third season.

According to Star Tribune, in a statement at the University of Massachusetts, Kerman said, "one of the things that (show creator) Jenji Kohan has said about Season 3 already on record is that an exploration of faith is a big part of what she is planning and what they have scripted so far."

And aside from the new characters, Kerman confirmed that the newest season will have a central theme, which is faith, something that she has developed when she was in prison; and something she currently holds on to as an advocate of criminal justice system reform.

Adding to the show's triumph in mainstream TV are its recent 2014 Emmy nominations  , which include Outstanding Writing, Directing, Lead Actress, and Comedy Series, among others.
