For the first time in her storied music career, Mariah Carey's voice cracked in a concert.
Worst, fans caught the faltering voice of the diva on video during the concert, and posted them on Instagram right away, drawing more rather harsh criticisms from other fans.
MSN News reported that Mariah Carey's voice faltered in her most recent performance of the Grammy-winning hit single "Vision of Love" during the start of her Elusive Chanteuse World Tour in Tokyo, Japan.
The voice faltering incident was not reported or hardly mentioned in Mariah Carey's official website.
"The Makuhari Messe venue was sold out and thousands of adoring fans sang and danced along with Mariah as she performed a collection of her biggest and most popular hits," the singing diva's website reported.
Music industry quarters believe that Carey may be in a bit of slump as a result of the marriage woes she is allegedly having with estranged husband Nick Cannon. The couple has been rumored to have split in August and made headlines for an alleged divorce process.
According to the MSN News report, Mariah's voice and her mind seem to be elsewhere during the concert as she literally groped for form, struggling through some of her own hit songs.
She experienced difficulty hitting her signature high notes and her voice cracked a couple of times, added the outlet.
The Instagram concert videos immediately drew reactions from other fans who spared no mercy in hitting Mariah Carey.
Comments like "Fix it Jesus!" "She sounds like she had a bad trip with some .......," "She's just been out a long time. Her voice is worn out. That song (Vision of Love) is almost 25 years old," and "Stick a fork in her! She's done!" flooded social media.
In the MSN News report, fan comments included: "She is duuun!" "She needs Jesus," and "No, no, no!!!! Why Mariah? Why????"
In a report by Daily Mail, one fan was quoted to have tweeted: "It's a wrap for Mariah Carey's singing career. You're a legend. Time to retire. She can't sing anymore. What happened?"
Mariah Carey's world tour follows the release of her latest album "Me. I am Mariah ... The Elusive Chanteuse."
The Wrap reported that the CD sold 57,000 copies in its first week, which was a very disappointing figure, based on the track records of the 44-year-old music diva.
Despite disappointing sales figures, Mariah's album received favorable reviews from music industry analysts, according to the MSN News report. The album has been in production for years and its release date was pushed back a couple of times before it was finally launched last May.
