Pacquiao vs Mayweather has proven to be one of the boxing fights that the world wants to see.

With the way Mayweather has been eluding an appointment with Pacquiao on the ring in recent years, pundits and most boxing fans have given Manny the edge.

But with the devastating knockout of the Filipino boxing icon in the Juan Manuel Marquez fight in December 2012, aficionados have switched bets and are now putting their money on Mayweather.

Former two division champion and Showtime commentator Paul Malignaggi was quoted by Boxing News 24 as saying that if there are boxers that Mayweather should be wary about in protecting his 47-0 win-loss professional record, Pacman should be the least of his concern. Money should reportedly be more wary instead of Amir Khan of Pakistan and the upstart welterweight slugger Keith Thurman, said Malignaggi.

But Abel Sanchez, trainer of world middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, thinks otherwise. He believes Manny can beat Floyd should their much-anticipated fight pushes through.

In a report by GMA News, Sanchez said that "father time is starting to catch up with the pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather."

Sanchez based his assessment on the last fight of Mayweather against Marcos Maidana where he noticed Floyd slowing down and allegedly showing signs of decline.

In an interview with Fighthype.com via GMA News, Sanchez said: "I thought Floyd won easily (against Maidana) but Floyd is slowing down. He's getting old like everybody that is at that level for such a long time."

Mayweather, 37, is two years older than Pacquiao.

Initially, Sanchez gave Pacquiao a remote chance of beating Mayweather but after Floyd's last fight, he feels that Manny now has a better-than-average probability of putting the first loss on Money's immaculate slate.

GMA News reported that Sanchez believes the Filipino boxing icon has been on the right track since suffering a humiliating knockout loss to Marquez in 2012.

"In the past I thought that Mayweather would win the fight easily. I think the knockout by Marquez on Pacquiao kind of rejuvenated his career, his mentality, his efforts, his commitment to the gym," said Sanchez in the interview.

"Sometimes a loss like that could be a blessing. Now I see it more as an even fight," Golovkin's trainer pointed out.

Since back-to-back losses to Timothy Bradley in June 2012 and Marquez in December 2012, Pacquiao has bounced back big time, piling up two convincing wins against Brandon Rios in November 2013 and Bradley in April 2014.

Pacquiao is due to fight undefeated American Chris Algieri this November 22 in Shanghai, China.
