Dogs are considered man's best friend. They could also be their children's babysitters, as shown in this video clip.

An adorable scene involving a cute puppy named Zayla and an 11-day-old baby takes place in what appears to be a spacious carpeted area in a home. The little one is lying down on a blanket spread out on the carpeted floor, while the pooch is lying on her stomach near the child.

Sprawled on the foreground are what seem to be two plush toys, probably tossed about by the baby's canine companion.

As the baby moves her limbs about, Zayla looks on and tries to reach out to the baby with her paw. However, the little one reacts to the puppy's approach with a whine. Seeing this, Zayla proceeds to run off into the background, barking at something beyond our sight. Probably protecting her human sister from intruders?

Throughout the video, a muffled laugh can be heard in the background -- probably the baby's mom, and the creator of the video.

This is not the first time a canine has stepped into the role of babysitter. Other owners have recorded their furry friends watching over the kids or playing with them.

One pooch had been captured on video cam guiding a child down a flight of stairs, while others have been recorded watching over babies while they sleep. Awww!

In his blog, "Dog Whisperer" Cesar Millan said that your canine friend won't stop helping his owners once a new baby arrives. "You may be surprised by just how many ways your dog will be beneficial to your transition into parenthood," he said.

"Believe it or not, the germs that your dog carries into the house are actually beneficial to your little one," he revealed. "Studies have shown that the exposure to germs from dogs challenges children's immune systems, leading to fewer respiratory illnesses and ear infections, and a decreased risk for asthma and allergies later in life."

With that being said, there's no reason to keep your pet from kissing your little one, then. Well, except when he or she's been out rolling in the grass!
