If there's one thing that people in movies actually hate, it's how unauthorized spoilers get leaked before the actual film hits the theaters. So far, director JJ Abrams and his team behind "Star Wars: Episode VII" has done a good job curbing the number of photos taken on the set to be leaked online.
However, a photographer has actually taken set images of the highly-anticipated film by accident. When Matthew Myatt was taking stock photos as part of a job commissioned by the Airborne Aviation flying school on Tuesday, he did not realize that the photos he took over Greenham Common, a former airfield near Newbury, Berkshire were actually of the "Star Wars VII" set.
Telling Sky News about his discovery, he said that it took his son to "pinch him" to realize that the "unusual" activity on the ground below were set photos of the film, which include a partially-constructed Millennium Falcon. An X-Wing fighter was also spotted alongside the Millennium Falcon.
Myatt's employers appeared so thrilled with the news that they could not help but share the photo on Twitter. See the image here.
Pop culture website Latino-Review found out that the Greenham Common has several structures that are perfect for whatever Abrams had envisioned for his new film. The area has abandoned buildings used in the 1990s to test nukes. According to the website, the structures would be used as docking bays for the sci-fi vehicles. It also employed home drone technology to obtain more photos of the area. The photos taken revealed that the X-Wing fighter will be in black, orange and chrome.
Meanwhile, according to International Business Times, the fan website Making Star Wars spotted a Tumblr post where a girlfriend of a film extra claimed Harrison Ford would be filming a scene with his fellow pilots. Using the "#rebelfighter" hashtag, Tumblr user Stephanie insinuated there might be a rebellion happening in "Star Wars: Episode VII."
She wrote: "So proud of my boy (with emoticons). My boyfriend is an extra in the new 'Star Wars' film, he plays a 'rebel fighter.' I'm jealous of him! Harrison Ford will be on the set on Moonday (sic) when he goes in!"
Will Ford as the original Hans Solo fly the Millennium Falcon again in the upcoming film? The IBTimes report points out that the character was essential to destroying the Death Star in the original trilogy.
