The Air Jordan 1 Retro '99 "Last Shot" will be available on shelves Wednesday, instead of the usual Saturday.
In a report by Sneakernews.com, Jordan Brand will launch Jordan 1 '99 "Gym Red", also known as "Last Shot", on September 10, 2014, which is quite different from its standard approach of releasing sneakers on a Saturday. The sneakers were dubbed "Last Shot" in commemoration of the Jordan XIV, the last pair worn by Michael Jordan when he hit the last game-winning shot of his career.
"Last Shot" would be the latest colorway of the model released since July. The Air Jordan 1 Retro '99 "Vibrant Yellow" and "Black Toe" were released earlier in July 2014. The label on the upcoming pair states "Black/Gym Red-Black".
Nicekicks.com writes that the Air Jordan 1 Retro '99 "Last Shot" is a combination of two distinct shoes from the Air Jordan franchise. It joins the aspects of the Air Jordan 1 with the Air Jordan 14. Looking at the shoes, the upper is highly inspired by the Jordan 14, featuring the suede material, ribbed stitching and rubber heel piece. Elements of the Air Jordan 1 are noticeable on the outsole, ankle support and toe box shape of the pair. The tongue looks like a hybrid of the two classic models, absent any Jordan logo.
Nike writes, "The Air Jordan 1 Retro '99 'Gym Red' features a unique combination of the Air Jordan 14 and the classic Air Jordan 1. Air Jordan 14 materials and designs can be seen on the mesh on the tongue, stitched panels on the sides and the iconic heel piece. An all black upper features perforated panels and smooth leather while Gym Red hits on the tongue and heel are inspired directly from the original Air Jordan 14. Get them on September 10 on Nike.com (8am EDT/5am PDT)."
The Air Jordan 1 Retro '99 "Last Shot" will be sold at a retail price of $130. It will be available on Footlocker.com, House of Hoops by Foot Locker, Flight Club and selected Nike retail outlets.
