It seems that Benedict Cumberbatch can't do anything not charmingly, and has the power to win over everyone, no matter what.

As if to prove a point, the actor accepted his GQ Man of the Year Award with drunk rambling, and yet, people adored him instead of criticizing his tipsy little speech.

Despite being the undisputed champion of the ALS ice bucket challenge (according to Vanity Fair, anyway), he could have used some of those ice to put in his drink to avoid the drunken moments. But as the Irish Mirror pointed out, it's not easy to say no to the booze, especially if it's flowing so freely at the GQ awards.

Sleek and suave in an all-black ensemble, Cumberbatch accepted his award at the London Royal Opera House, admitting to have more than his fair share of drinks before taking the stage.

He told the audience, "This is wonderful. I'd also like to thank James McEvoy, Michael Fassbender and Tom Hardy for not being available. But seriously, it's an embarrassment of riches. I'm in one of those extraordinary rooms with extraordinary people."

It started conventional enough, but soon, a string of rambling, almost treasonous insults, and swearing marked his speech.

He may or may not have insulted British drama series "Downton Abbey" as he said, "I sound like I'm auditioning for 'Downton Abbey' or some such sh*t ... not that 'Downton Abbey's' sh*t ... I just mean ... Sh*t, where was I?"

He also thanked his parents for rearing him, gathering an appreciative laugh from the audience when he remarked, "I'm going to stop swearing because my mother will disown me. I should thank her rather than swearing. Uh, thank you mum and dad for rearing me."

Then he quipped, "Rearing me? Again, what century am I from? That's like, you rear farm yard animals and I don't think I'm one of those. Maybe I could play one, I've just played a tiger so who knows? Watch out for the pig to add to my coterie of animals."

After which he may have realized how agonizingly drunk he's been throughout his speech, he decided to finish it by saying, "Listen I'm going to get off stage, because I thought ... I was first so I drank a lot so I need the loo, so thank you very good much. I'll see you in the loo."

Only Cumberbatch can get away with bringing up the loo at a speech and get hearty laughs from the people in the audience.

But the star did have a brilliant year, with the third season of "Sherlock" garnering more viewers than ever, a notable performance in Oscar-winning movie, "12 Years a Slave", and a favorite dragon on the epic "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug."

On top of that, he will also be starring as Alan Turing in the Enigma-code biopic, "The Imitation Game".

With all that under his belt, he does deserve to mingle with the stars on the red carpet. Who knows, maybe next year, he's going to have even more hilarious drunk speeches for the world to laugh with.
